Police were notified on the morning of May 16 that a woman’s partly burned corpse had been discovered inside an Athvelly rental home.

Upon arriving at the site, Medchal Inspector A. Satyanarayana and his colleagues discovered the dead, Dasari Lalitha, 50, suffering from serious injuries such as a slashed neck, as well as severed ears and nose.

Lalitha had been living there for six months, according to Mohd Ajaz, the home’s owner, who was informed by neighbors that there was heavy smoke emanating from the residence at approximately four in the morning. Ajaz and his father discovered Lalitha’s corpse engulfed in flames after breaking the lock.

SIP Manmadha Rao filed a case under FIR No. 465/2025 in response to the complaint, citing Sections 103(1), 305, and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

In charge of the inquiry was Inspector Satyanarayana. Using technological evidence and CCTV images from the murder site and the adjacent Medchal bus station, police established special squads and were able to catch the suspects.

The accused was living with his mother in Dilsukhnagar, performing odd jobs, and had lately had an injury that left him disabled.

His financial troubles made him think about stealing. His mother reached out to Lalitha, a former coworker from the Patancheru dumping yard, to ask for assistance in getting him a job after a botched break-in attempt at a milk business. On May 15, Lalitha, who lives alone in Athvelly, welcomed them to her place of employment, a wine store in Kistapur, and promised to help.

The three of them drank toddy at Kistapur that night. The accused remained with Lalitha at the Medchal bus station, while his mother later went back home. He forced her to drink more toddy in her leased room. He tried to take her jewelry while she went to sleep.

Upon encountering opposition, he used a kitchen knife to slash her neck, disfigured her corpse by chopping off her ears and nose to extract jewelry, burned the body, secured the room, and took off with the pilfered items.

Gold ear and nose studs weighing 5 grams each, 60 grams of silver nuptials, a bracelet and ring, Rs 3,500 in cash, the deceased’s navy blue keypad mobile phone, the accused’s red Oppo smartphone, and the room key that the accused had locked after the murder were among the things that the police collected.

Along with Additional DCP Purushottam, ACP Shankar Reddy, SHO A. Satyanarayana, DI Sudheer Krishna, DI Satish, and other Medchal Police personnel, the arrest was carried out under the direction of DCP Medchal Zone N. Koti Reddy, IPS.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, the police’s efforts to solve this horrific murder and robbery case in less than 72 hours were much appreciated and will be appropriately rewarded.
