Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton, and Corbin Bosch will go for national duty after MI’s last league game on May 26. Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson, and Charith Asalanka have been selected by MI to replace them.

According to the IPL announcement, the replacement players would be available starting in the playoffs, should the Mumbai Indians advance to the elimination stages.

Since he was selected for England’s limited-overs lineup for the West Indies series, which conflicts with the rescheduled knockout round, Jacks, who returned to India last week ahead of MI’s last two group-stage matches, will not be eligible for the season’s final stages owing to international service.

The English all-rounder, who played in 11 of their first 12 games, took five wickets with his off-spin and scored 195 runs in nine innings. Jonny Bairstow, a wicketkeeper-batter from his England side, will take his spot and join MI for Rs 5.25 crore.

Bairstow has not featured for England in any capacity since June 2024 and was not sold in the November mega-auction. After leading Yorkshire against Surrey in the County Championship at The Oval, he is traveling to India. He has played in five seasons and 50 IPL games, having previously played for Punjab Kings in 2022 and 2024 and Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019–21.

Bairstow can also provide MI with a wicketkeeping alternative, since Rickelton is scheduled to leave before the playoffs for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. Rickelton has scored 336 runs at 30.54 and a strike rate of 153.42 in his 12 innings, making him MI’s second-highest run scorer of the season after Rohit Sharma.

At a reserve price of Rs 1 crore, English pacer Gleeson, who made his IPL debut playing two games for Chennai Super Kings as a substitute player last year, will take Rickelton’s spot.

For Corbin Bosch, who is also included in South Africa’s team for the WTC final at Lord’s, Charith Asalanka will be brought in at a reserve price of Rs 75 lakh.
