Two world records were broken in a single day during the building of the Ganga highway, the state’s longest highway project, demonstrating Uttar Pradesh’s impressive infrastructural development.
In only one day, 34.24 lane kilometers (5.7 km) of bituminous concrete were constructed along the Hardoi-Unnao segment (Package 3), setting the first record. The Ghaziabad-Aligarh Expressway’s previous record of 27 lane kilometers was surpassed by this in 2023.
Last Sunday, a 10-kilometer Thai beam crash barrier was installed in a single day, setting a new record for highway construction. It is well known that the Thai beam crash barrier improves vehicle safety in collisions.
These achievements were verified by Hari Pratap Shahi, Additional CEO of the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPIDA), who also said that artificial intelligence technology from ETH University in Zurich, Switzerland, is being used to check the quality of construction.
The Golden Book of World Records, Asia Book of Records, and Indian Book of Records have all formally acknowledged the accomplishment. M/s Patel Infrastructure Limited completed the record-breaking job, and M/s Adani Enterprises Limited is building the expressway.
The six-lane Ganga Expressway, which is expected to cost Rs 36,230 crore and span 594 kilometers, is one of Uttar Pradesh’s premier infrastructure projects. 430 kilometers of the motorway have been completed so far. By November 2025, the project should be finished.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the UPIDA team and credited their hard work, technical diligence, and superb planning for the success. He said that the goal of creating a “New Uttar Pradesh” with top-notch infrastructure is gradually coming to pass under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction.
