The Indian automobile market has always been a major market for auto companies abroad. That is why these auto companies launch a car with the best features to attract Indian customers. Many companies have come to the Indian automobile market. But the sales of a company in the same Indian market have shown the biggest decline in 12 years.

Hyundai, the second largest car company in the country once in the country, is facing low sales today. The market share of the company, which once ruled the Indian market, has now reached the lowest level of 12 years. Maruti goes first to Hyundai as the strongest company after Suzuki.

April 2025 in Hyundai

Recently, a report of FADA (Federation of Automotive Dealers Association) has been revealed, saying that in April 2025, Hyundai’s market share had dropped to 12.47%. The figure was 14.29% in April last year. Now, Hyundai Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra and Tata Motors are fourth.

SUVs were sold, but….

Today, Hyundai is paying more attention to SUV. The company appears to be particularly focusing on the crate. In April 2025, 38% of the total sales of Hyundai were sold by Craeta alone. But, the sale of other cars like Grand I10 NOOS, Ora, Venue, Exterm, I20 has declined.

In the Indian market, the highest number of cars worth less than Rs 10 lakh are sold, but Hyundai seems to ignore the segment, while Mahindra and Tata have put all their power in this segment.

Consumer displeasure with the removal of features from I20

Hyundai’s I20, which was once the best in the premium hatchback segment, is now disappointed with the buyers. The 2025 updates have features such as cooled glovebox, puddle lamps and door Twitter covers. Meanwhile, Maruti’s Baleno is still selling more than 1 million units.

Pressure of new companies

Companies like Kia, Toyota, MG Motor are also fully ready to overtake Hyundai. Kia sales have increased 18.3% and their new SUV Clavis and Cyros will be coming to market soon.

Even in EV segment, Hyundai fell behind

Although Hyundai showed a 654 per cent increase in electric vehicles in April, the number was only 686 units. At the same time, Tata, MG and Mahindra are launching powerful electric cars in this segment.
