Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has rejoined Lahore Qalandars squad just in time for crucial eliminator match against Karachi Kings in PSL 2025.

Rishad Hossain travelled back to Sharjah on May 21 to feature in the third T20I between Bangladesh and the UAE. He played in the two of the three matches in the T20I series where Bangladesh lost the series 2-1.

Earlier, several overseas players, including Rishad Hossain, had to leave Pakistan after the tournament was temporarily suspended due to rising border tensions with India.

With Rishad’s return, the Lahore Qalandars have a strong trio from Bangladesh for the knockouts, including senior spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

While Shakib Al Hasan has already played one match since the resmuption of the tournament in Pakistan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz joined Qalandars few days ago.

Rishad had solid PSL 2025 season so far, picking up nine wickets in five matches at an average or 16.44.

However, he took three wickets in two games where the side lost the series. Qalandars will have to make some tough decisions in their bowling attack. With fast bowlers like Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf already in the lineup, they will have to make a wise call on selecting the players from three Bangladeshi players.

He will stay with Lahore team for the remainder of their PSL 2025 as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) extended his NoC from May 22 to May 25.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) resumed on May 17 after a suspension due to cross border tensions with India. But the comeback hasn’t been smooth, as many overseas players have not returned to Pakistan for the remainder of the tournament and there is also tech trouble.

On the other hand, Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana has been out of the PSL. As per BCB’s Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, the unpleasent incident made him to opt out of PSL.

“What Nahid Rana and Rishad faced recently, you can’t blame them for being traumatised. Which is probably why Rana has withdrawn from the tour. Among the coaching staff, James (Pamment) and Nathan (Keily), who are our fielding coach and trainer, aren’t going. The rest are ready to go there,” Fahim said.

“There were hesitations among few other players. But later, when they saw others are going, they felt that it might not be difficult to go there and they changed their initial position,” concluded BCB‘syn’s Nazmul Back.
