Nita Ambani, Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation and wife of Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani, made her dream come true when in 2023 the opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre took place. NMACC is a performing arts and multi-disciplinary cultural and exhibition space founded by Nita Ambani. The gigantic cultural centre was called ‘India’s Met Gala’ as several global celebrities graced the red carpet with elegance and style, including Shah Rukh Khan, Gigi Hadid, Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, and Zendaya.
Now, India’s one of the known philanthropists and Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, is all set for NMACC’s grand lineup this fall in New York. The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre Weekend is all set to take over Lincoln Center with three days filled with dance, music, fashion, and a vibrant cultural showcase.
“We are thrilled to bring the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre India Weekend to New York City for the very first time! It is designed to be a global celebration of India’s cultural legacy – our art, crafts, music, dance, fashion, and food. At NMACC, our vision has always been to showcase the best of the world to India and bring the best of India to the world. This special weekend marks the first step forward on that journey, celebrating the spirit of India on one of the world’s most iconic stages – Lincoln Center. I am excited to share our rich traditions and legacy with New York City and the world,” said the Founder and Chairperson, NMACC, Nita Ambani.
This invite-only event will kick-start with Grand Swagat, featuring a fashion show for Ambani’s handloom emporium, Swadesh. The showcase is curated by one of India’s celebrated designers, Manish Malhotra. Further, the culinary experiences will be taken care of by Michelin-starred Indian chef Vikas Khanna.
According to Vanity Fair, Vikas Khanna said, “NMACC is doing such an amazing job of making people understand India, and with her platform and her vision to bring India to the world, it’s absolutely an honor just to be a part of this.”
His menu, which is currently being made, will put more emphasis on a deep dive into flavors from across India.
Apart from these two, Indian renowned Bollywood musicians including Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal, and classical musician Rishab Sharma, will be giving five soulful performances at The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation.
The opening act of NMACC’s grand production will be led by director Feroz Abbas Khan, which will depict nearly 7,000 years of Indian history with a breathtaking showcase featuring over 100 performers and expansive sets.
