New Delhi: Indias star batsman Virat Kohli recently retired from Test cricket. He used to bat at number-4 in Team India. Who will be the best replacement for Kohli at number four? This is being discussed continuously. Speculations are being made about KL Rahul to Shubman Gill. Meanwhile former Team India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has made a shocking claim. Actually Bangar has described Karun Nair as the best replacement not Rahul or Gill. Let us tell you that India has to tour England for a five-Test series in June next month. Nair has been away from Team India for a long time. He played his last match for India in 2017. However Nair who has performed well in domestic cricket has been included in the India A team for the England tour. India A has to play two first-class matches against England Lions and an intra-squad match with the Indian senior team. Bangar said on ESPNcricinfo that I am thinking of Karun Nair at number-4. If we talk about giving priority to domestic cricket and using it as a benchmark then he has done everything possible to get his place back in Test cricket. Nair is only the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to score a triple century in Tests. He has played 6 Tests and 2 ODIs for India. Apart from Nair Bangar also advocated the inclusion of Abhimanyu Easwaran in the Indian team. Like Nair Easwaran has also made a strong impact in domestic cricket. The former coach said What about Abhimanyu Easwaran? He has scored a lot of runs. I am confident that he will make it to the Test team. Karun Nair played an IPL match after almost three years. Even during IPL 2018 to IPL 2022 he got a chance to play only eight matches in five seasons. When this season started despite his successful domestic form he was not getting a place in the starting XII of Delhi Capitals (DC). When Faf du Plessis was not fit for the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) anyone could have replaced Nair and Sameer Rizvi as an impact player as DC captain Axar Patel himself said during the toss. But when MI scored above 200 the DC team management expressed faith in Nairs experience instead of Rizvis youthful enthusiasm which Nair tried to prove right by playing an innings of 89 runs in 40 balls.
