José Antonio Rueda topped the timesheets this morning in the first free practice of the Moto3 British GP at Silverstone - a session marked by significant lap time improvements.

In the early stages, Joel Kelso (LevelUp-MTA/KTM) led with a lap time of 2m14.176s. That benchmark was quickly lowered by several riders within the first 15 minutes.

After 16 minutes, David Muñoz (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP/KTM) set a lap good enough to lead the session for several minutes, before being overtaken by Scott Ogden (CIP Green Power/KTM).

Shortly afterward, Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) clocked the fastest lap of the session with a 2m10.120s. Although other riders improved to dip into the 2:10s range, David Almansa (Leopard Racing/Honda) came closest - finishing just 0.594s behind Rueda.

The rest of the top five was completed by Ángel Piqueras (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM), Ogden, and Muñoz. Kelso ended up sixth, already more than a second adrift of Rueda's time.

The session was also marked by an unusual incident: Ryusei Yamanaka (Frinsa-MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) disobeyed instructions from the marshals and was suspended from participating in FP1 as a consequence.
