The Foreigners Cell of the North-West district of Delhi Police took a major action and arrested 9 illegally living Bangladeshi citizens in the Bharat Nagar area. Police also recovered a smartphone during their search, in which they were in touch with their family in Bangladesh through the banned IMO app. The Delhi Police in its official statement said that the Delhi Police’s Foreign Cell (North-West District) is continuously conducting a monitoring operation. Under this campaign, Delhi Police has arrested nine Bangladeshis living illegally.

Delhi Police said that they had received intelligence that some Bangladeshi citizens were living in Wazirpur slum in Bharat Nagar without legitimate documents. The police team carried out intensive siege and conducted an investigation campaign in about 50 pavements and 100 streets. During this time, the police arrested 9 Bangladeshi citizens living illegally. The arrested accused told during interrogation that they used to work on a brick-kiln in Mewat, Haryana, but had run away from there for fear of the action of Haryana Police. These intruders were illegally entered from the Cooch Behar border.

Delhi Police further stated that all the accused have been handed over to Foreign Regional Registration Office, RK Puram, New Delhi for further exile action. The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Saidul Islam (45 years), Najma Begum (42), Najmul Ali Age (23), Ajina Begum (20), Apple Ali (19), Laden Ali (17), Eidul Ali (8), Shaida Akhtar (6), Aryan Ali.
