In a heartbreaking incident, seven family members, including three children, were found deceased in a vehicle parked on an empty lot in Sector 27, Panchkula, Haryana, as reported by local authorities on Tuesday.
Initial investigations suggest that the family may have taken their own lives due to overwhelming financial difficulties.
The deceased included two girls aged 12 and 13, their 14-year-old brother, along with their parents and grandparents, according to police statements.
Authorities believe that the family, who had previously resided in Chandigarh, may have resorted to this tragic decision.
All seven individuals were discovered inside the same car, with the rear window obscured by a towel, as noted by Additional Commissioner of Police Vikram Nehra.
Upon being transported to a nearby hospital, only the father of the children showed signs of life, but he succumbed shortly after.
The police have identified two of the deceased as Praveen Mittal and his father, Deshraj Mittal.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that financial pressures led the family to this devastating act.
A formal case has been initiated, and inquiries are ongoing.
DCP Himadri Kaushik, who visited the scene, confirmed that six individuals were taken to Ojas Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Another victim was transported to Civil Hospital, Sector 6, but was also declared deceased. The preliminary assessment indicates a potential suicide, with all deceased being family members.
Praveen Mittal, one of the victims, operated a tour and travel business in Dehradun, which reportedly faced significant financial setbacks, possibly contributing to this tragic outcome.
