Swastik Chikara, a youthful player for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), turned to social media to show his respect for Indian cricket icon and elder colleague Virat Kohli.

Although he hasn’t made his debut yet, Chikara, an Uttar Pradesh hitter, was signed by RCB for INR 30 lakh at the IPL super auction. However, RCB’s social media accounts, which often display his affection for Kohli, have helped him get noticed this year.

Referring to the former RCB captain as his older brother, Swastik often discusses the important things he has acquired from Kohli’s discipline, work ethic, and passion.

Chikara went over to Kohli in the locker room after RCB’s resounding victory against LSG and snapped a photo with him. The RCB social media staff recorded this occasion and posted a video on X. Kohli joked, “Dimaag khaata rehta hai hamesha” (he continues bothering me) after the picture was taken.

Chikara happily showed off the selfie he took with Kohli in the following picture. The kid batter proudly held up the photo for the camera in spite of Kohli’s lighthearted remark.

In the video, Chikara stated, “Bade bhai hai hamara.” He is my older brother. “Jab mann kare, tab photo le lete hain” allows me to take a photo with him anytime I’d want.

This season, Kohli has already amassed over 600 runs in the IPL with eight half-centuries. Currently ranked fifth on the standings, he is still a serious contender for the Orange Cap.

The 36-year-old stood down from T20Is last year and just announced his retirement from Test cricket. He is still a vital member of the IPL, however, as his steady efforts continue to top the scoring lists.

With a decisive victory against the Lucknow Super Giants, RCB guaranteed a top-2 finish in the standings. Rajat Patidar and company are getting ready to play table-toppers Punjab Kings in the pivotal IPL 2025 Eliminator 1 on Thursday at Mullanpur, after their exciting 228-run chase against LSG. If they win, they will go directly to the June 3 final in Ahmedabad. Even if RCB struggles, they will still have another opportunity in Qualifier 2, where they will play the Mumbai Indians or Gujarat Titans, the winner of the eliminator.
