Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), was fined for keeping up a sluggish over-rate against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Tuesday’s IPL 2025 encounter at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Pant was fined Rs 30 lakh for his third over-rate offence; his previous two occurred on April 5 and April 26, respectively. The other players in the playing XI were each fined Rs 12 lakh or 50% of their individual match costs, whichever was lower.

“As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 30 Lakh,” the notification said.

“The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either Rs 12 Lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” said the statement.

In their last IPL 2025 league match, Pant led from the front with an incredible century on Tuesday, but his undefeated 118 off only 61 balls was in futile as LSG lost to RCB.

Mitchell Marsh hammered a 37-ball 67 to propel LSG to 227/3, while Pant stormed back into form to smash his second IPL hundred.

Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal later stitched a match-winning 107-run partnership to enable them chase down the mark in 18.4 overs after LSG bowlers took important wickets to reduce RCB to 123/4.

LSG finished their IPL 2025 season with 12 points after six victories in 14 games. Meanwhile, with 19 points from the league phase, RCB has advanced to Qualifier 1.
