Prince Harry Criticized for ‘Losing Identity’ After Royal Exit, Says Columnist

Prince Harry is once again under media scrutiny, this time for what critics describe as a lack of purpose and identity following his exit from royal life in 2020.

In a sharply worded opinion piece for The Sunassistant editor Clemmie Moodie argued that the Duke of Sussex appears adrift since stepping down from his royal duties alongside wife Meghan Markle. While Moodie acknowledged Harry’s impactful military service and the success of the Invictus Games — a sporting event for wounded veterans which he founded — she claims his recent endeavors pale in comparison.

“Since leaving the Army, something he was genuinely passionate about and, by all accounts, brilliant at, Harry has lost his identity,” she wrote. “Like many ex-military men, he has lost his sense of purpose — one he so evidently hoped to reclaim as half of the world’s most talked-about power couple.”

Moodie further argued that despite the attention garnered from high-profile interviews and media projects, including the explosive Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021, Harry’s current work lacks the substance and national service once central to his public role.

“None of this can replace the camaraderie and mission-driven life of serving your country. Harry’s only purpose now seems to be serving himself,” Moodie added.

She also took a jab at his dynamic with Meghan, suggesting, “While Meghan Markle appears to be carving out a niche as a high-profile influencer, Harry has yet to show a unique skill set of his own.”

The commentary has reignited debates around post-royal identity and the pressures of living outside the monarchy’s framework.
