If you are starting content creation on YouTube or are already an active creator, then it is very important to understand the 3 strike rule of YouTube. This rule applies to creators that violate YouTube’s copyright or community guidelines. Not only can the video be removed by breaking the rules continuously, but your channel can also be closed forever.

Warning on first mistake, channel closed at third

When someone first violates YouTube rules, he can be prevented from video uploads, live streaming and other features for a week. This strike remains effective for 90 days. If there is a second mistake during this time, the period of ban is extended by two weeks. As soon as the third mistake is made, the YouTube changes the channel permanently, and all its content is removed from the platform. Other channels associated with this may also be affected.

Avoid copyright or objectionable content

If you use video, audio or content of another without permission, YouTube can delete your video on the complaint of the original owner. Also, YouTube can give warning or strike on violent, misleading or harmful content.

You can appeal to the studio

When the strike is imposed, YouTube informs by email that which policy violated, why the video was removed, and what to do next. Also, you also get the option of appeal. If YouTube finds your appeal correct, the strike is removed. If you believe that the content is under fair use or the strike is incorrect, you can send a counter notification. If the complainant does not case in court in 10 days, the video may be uploaded again.

Copyright claim removal options

You can also contact the person or company who has claimed copyright and request him to withdraw the strike. If there is no new strike for the next 90 days, the old strike automatically withdraws.
