If you are going to join a new job, then the PF account linked to the old company and the money deposited in it becomes an important responsibility. If you do not pay attention to this, your money may get stuck or there may be a delay in transfer. Let us tell you in simple language what things you should keep in mind.

The government has fixed interest on PF accounts.

Recently, the government has given great news to PF employees. For the year 2024-25, the government has approved to give 8.25 percent interest on PF accounts. All employees will get this interest. However, only the interest rate has been fixed right now, the money is expected to come into the accounts by March 2025.

Check PF balance like this, the method is very easy.

You can know the money deposited in your PF account from home. There are three easy ways for this:

Check balance with a missed call - Make a missed call to 9966044425 from your registered mobile number. After two rings the call will be disconnected and you will get the balance information through SMS. Keep in mind, for this your e-KYC must be completed.

Get information from the UMANG app - Download the Umang app log in go to the EPFO section and check your balance.

Check from EPFO passbook - Go to the EPFO website see the passbook and find out how much money is deposited.

How will PF transfer to a new job?

When you change jobs, it is necessary to link the old PF account to the new company's account. For this, you must have a Universal Account Number (UAN). This number must be linked to the Aadhar card. If your previous company has updated your "Date of Exit" correctly, then your PF balance will automatically be transferred to the new company.

If the previous company has not updated your Date of Exit correctly, then automatic transfer will not happen. In such a situation, you will have to adopt the manual method. Therefore, after leaving the job, definitely check whether this information is updated or not.

Pay special attention to these things related to the PF account
Your bank account should always be updated in the PF account so that there is no problem in transferring money.
Keep checking your PF passbook details from time to time.
If you have two Universal Account Numbers UAN, then merge them into one. This will not cause you any problems in withdrawing or transferring money in the future.
