Swiss alps glacier break: 90% of the mountainous village of Blatton was destroyed and one person went missing due to the disastrous collapse of the birch glacier in Swiss Alps. 300 people lived in the village. According to reports, the incident occurred at around 3:30 pm local time on Wednesday, when a large piece of snow fell from a birch glacier in the southern Wallis area of Switzerland. This led to a huge flood of snow, mud and rocks, which took the village in the Lotshntal Valley in its arms.
About 300 residents of Blatton were evacuated on May 19 itself.

The drone footage saw a huge expansion of mud and debris in the Lonza River and the surrounding forests flowing through the houses, the valley. Broken wooden buildings were visible between the debris, which outlines the scale of destruction.
