A study published in the Journal of Personal Relationships has solved this math of love, dating and feelings. The study claims that no matter how many dating apps have come up, even today the young generation believes the most in childhood love. In a study by the University of Illinois, researchers found that even today the youth trust the old ways more.
In this study, the researchers closely studied the changes in dating trends between 2012 and 2022. College students were included in the study and their romantic relationships were discussed. The researchers found that even though many things have been digitized in this decade, love still remains in its old place. Digital gadgets have definitely changed the perspective of love. But when it comes to romance, people listen to the voice of the heart, not the computer.
Students admitted that in the digital age, they can easily stay in touch with their love. Calling, messaging has become very easy now. When students were asked with whom they are in a relationship, most of them answered with their college partner. First their friendship deepened and then it turned into love. Researchers found very few people who truly loved their dating app partner.
Researchers have divided this phase of love and romance into four stages.
This is the initial stage of any relationship. In this, two people know each other. But they do not date. During this time, they test their mutual chemistry. They talk a lot, flirt and get to know each other more.
When the chemistry of two people matches with each other, then they start spending more and more time with each other. However, they never officially consider themselves a couple. During this time they check the possibility of their relationship. They start meeting occasionally.
The third step of a love relationship is to move towards a relationship. Now they officially like to be called a couple. They interact with each other’s family and friends. During this time they come closer emotionally and physically.
In the fourth stage of a relationship, every couple plans for their future. They see whether they will be able to continue this relationship or not. Whether their future together is possible or not. In such a situation, they either decide to move forward together or to separate.
Researchers say that in the last ten years, love has remained at these four stages. That is, the frequency of love has increased through digital medium. But the young generation still prefers to date their college time partner.
