The shipment went through the Bac Luan II border gate, part of the Mong Cai (Vietnam) – Dongxing (China) international border gate pair, where it was strictly tested.

Chen Jiqing, leader of Guangxi Dongxing Customs Declaration Co., Ltd., said this batch of frozen durian originated from Vietnam’s Lam Dong province. After completing customs clearance procedures, it will be transferred to domestic food processing companies.

Frozen durian has a long shelf life, is easy to eat and can be used for food processing. It is very popular among Chinese consumers and food processing companies.

The import of frozen durian has brought new opportunities for China-Vietnam agricultural trade, adding to the list of imported agricultural products at the border gate. To better serve businesses, Dongxing Customs has assigned experts to provide comprehensive support and guidance to businesses.

Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy, as part of his working visit to China, held talks with Sun Meijun, Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China, on May 28 to discuss and coordinate to remove difficulties in exporting agricultural, forestry and aquatic products from Vietnam to China, especially durian.

According to the Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first four months of 2025, the trade turnover of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products between Vietnam and China was estimated at US$5.07 billion, up 3.7% over the same period in 2024. Of these, Vietnam’s exports fell 1.1% year-on-year to around $3.62 billion (down 1.1%) while imports rose 17.6% to $1.45 billion.

To date, the two sides have signed 28 agreements and protocols to the import and export of agricultural products. Many products have been officially exported to China, including watermelon, mangosteen, durian, rambutan, longan, jackfruit, bird’s nest, crocodile, farmed monkey, and milk.
