The dress, from the Fall/Winter 2024 collection of Tho’s brand Bad Biss, features a V-neck lace and sequin design with a striking 3D construction technique and a large bow at the hip. Adorned with handmade gemstones, the dress took 90 hours to create. Its floor-sweeping silhouette exudes elegance and sophistication.

Chen complemented the look with a high-low hairstyle and Y2K-inspired makeup, a popular trend this year.

Tho shared that the stylist for Trendmo reached out to her in early May to select this dress for Chen. The designer expressed excitement when both Chen’s team and the magazine team expressed their admiration for the gown.

At 42, Chen is best known for her role in the 2011 coming-of-age romance “You Are The Apple of My Eye.” She also appeared in the second season of the hit Chinese variety show “Sisters Who Make Waves” in 2021.

Tho, 26, graduated at the top of her class from the Fashion Design program at Van Lang University in Ho Chi Minh City and ranked second in the Master’s program in Applied Arts at the same institution. She founded Bad Biss in 2020, specializing in meticulously handcrafted designs with a modern, bold style.

Several celebrities, including Vietnamese singer Chi Pu and Chinese stars Esther Yu, Jane Zhang, Meng Jia, and Zhu Xudan, have worn Tho’s creations.
