However, today he shared a special birthday video, saying: "65th birthday, life has not been that easy sometimes, but I am here to tell the tale and I hope I have many more years to tell."

In the accompanying caption, Shaun wrote: "I'm very grateful for reaching my 65th Birthday today. My life has not been easy but I've never given up." He attributed his success to hard work, persistence, and learning from his failures, thanking his followers for their support and promising to continue inspiring and entertaining them. Shaun, affectionately known as "The Dark Destroyer" on the hit quiz show The Chase, has been a key player since the show's launch in June 2009.

Alongside host Bradley Walsh and fellow chasers Mark Labbett, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis, Shaun has carved out his place as a fan favourite.

Prior to gracing our screens, Shaun had an impressive legal career as a criminal barrister, with experience at the Old Bailey and various magistrates' courts throughout England, Wales, and Scotland.

In an interview with New Zealand Woman's Weekly last year, Shaun shared his zest for his work and quizzing.

He remarked: "I'm celebrating 40 years in the job this year and I have no plans to retire at 65 - I love it. I love quizzing too, so I will be doing that for as long as I can."

He also reflected on his time on The Chase, saying: "I never take being on The Chase for granted. I know it could all end tomorrow, and I still pinch myself that we are celebrating our 15th anniversary this year."
