Suspense crime, Digital Desk : As reported The Information, Nvidia, which leads the world in AI chip manufacturing, is in the process of designing the B30 chip set to be released in 2025, with projections estimating more than 1 million units in stock. The chip is being made specifically for the Chinese market and will be compliant with US export restrictions.

This plan ensures that Nvidia continues to dominate the Chinese market which accounts for roughly $6 billion or 14% of Nvidia’s revenue, despite US restrictions due to growing concerns over national technology security.

American Export Compliance Сompliance

Although Nvidia has yet to publicly confirm the details of the chip, Nvidia CEO stated in an earnings call that they are considering the possiblity of developing a compliant chip for China. Jefferies analysts currently expect the B30 chip to be disclosed in July 2025.

Users in China will have the capability to design sophisticated AI systems using data analytics and artificial intelligence for advanced research and big data because of the multi-chip connectivity architecture of the B30 that will be built on Nvidia’s Blackwell platform.

Response to Export Restrictions on H20 Chips

Nvidia had already received a rough $4.5 billion blow due to unsold inventory and now expects to face an additional $8 billion this quarter. They are on the cusp of receiving licensing on the H20 chip and their revenues are projected to fall further. The B30 comes on the heels of the US government’s restriction on Nvidia’s H20 chips for China and now things have reached the point where Nvidia can only export the H20 with a special license.

Soft balancing of compliance and competition in China

Despite their persistent revenue loss, Nvidia’s strategy suggests that they remain deeply devoted to China. Huang seems to believe that if US companies face such harsh restrictions, Huawei and other leading Chinese conglomerates will surpass them in AI development unchecked.
