Northeast India:
Heavy rainfall is expected over the northeastern states today, with intensity likely to decrease in the coming days. Light to moderate rain will continue across most areas for the next seven days.
Isolated heavy showers are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, and Mizoram on Thursday; over Assam and Meghalaya on Thursday and Friday, and again from June 9–11. Meghalaya may experience isolated, very heavy rainfall on Thursday.
East and Central India:
Light to moderate rain is expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim throughout the week. Isolated showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40–50 kilometres per hour) are likely over Madhya Pradesh (June 5–7); Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh (June 5–9); Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand on Thursday. Bihar may witness isolated heavy rainfall on Thursday.
Northwest India:
Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) have been predicted for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Isolated rainfall is also expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan on Thursday.
South Peninsular India:
Kerala, Mahe, and Coastal Karnataka are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall over the next seven days. Isolated thunderstorms with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and Interior Karnataka till Saturday.
Temperature and heat alerts:
Northwest India: A rise in maximum temperatures by 4–6 degrees Celsius is expected over the next five days.
East and Central India: Temperatures may increase by 2–4 degrees Celsius.
Heat Wave: Likely over West Rajasthan from June 8 to June 11.
Hot and Humid Conditions: Expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam (June 5), and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on June 5 and June 6.
