New Delhi: OpenAI has revealed that ChatGPT has gained more than 3 million paying users, which reflects its steady expansion in all its plans. This milestone is a big increase from the 2 million paying customers the company reported in February. As the number of users increases, OpenAI has introduced a range of new features to make ChatGPT more useful and flexible for all.
A major new feature is that ChatGPT now has a record mode for macOS which lets Team users store voice notes, meeting talks and creative sessions. Once the audio is recorded, the AI is able to transcribe it, note down important points, create summaries, arrange follow-ups, make plans and insert code snippets.
Apart from voice recording, OpenAI is adding Google Drive, Gmail, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Dropbox, Box and Linear to its list of “deep research” connectors. The purpose of these integrations is to help users access up-to-date data without compromising their current security rules. All Plus and Pro users outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland, as well as Team, Enterprise and Edu customers, will receive this update.
OpenAI has launched the Model Context Protocol (MCP) in beta, making it possible for organisations to build specific connectors for ChatGPT with their internal software. This allows ChatGPT to use the internal knowledge of the organisation, helping it provide answers that are suited to each company.
Codex, the coding assistant from ChatGPT, is now available to Plus subscribers. Codex can now code, test and debug programs, and the internet can be used to install packages and run tests on Codex itself. Users must manually enable this feature, which gives them complete control over the domains and HTTP settings.
Additionally, free users can now use a simplified memory feature that remembers who they are and what they talked about for better personalised responses. OpenAI claims it is working to improve ChatGPT so that everyone can benefit from it.
