Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot expressed on Thursday that there are numerous questions in the public's mind regarding the recent ceasefire with Pakistan, which the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government should address.
Gehlot pointed out that one of the key questions is the conditions under which the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was established. Supporting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statement on the ceasefire, Gehlot posted on X, stating that BJP President JP Nadda must understand that the questions raised by the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi reflect the sentiments of the nation—'the country did not lose, the army did not lose, so why is the government afraid?'
The former Chief Minister questioned how Trump has repeatedly pressured India into agreeing to a ceasefire. He noted that Rahul Gandhi has consistently highlighted the public's anger towards the government, asking why a ceasefire was declared under Trump's pressure when the Indian Army was gaining ground over Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
In his post, he mentioned that following the Pahalgam attack, there was widespread anger among citizens, prompting the army to take action against terrorists and their safe havens in Pakistan. The entire opposition, led by Rahul Gandhi, stood united with the government, and the nation was prepared for the army to decisively eliminate terrorism. However, just minutes after Trump's tweet about the ceasefire, the Indian government announced it, sending a negative message to the public regarding the government's stance.
He concluded by stating that the public still has lingering questions that the BJP government needs to answer. Gehlot also questioned why the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack have not yet been apprehended and posed several other inquiries to the government.
