New Delhi. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has directly targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Maharashtra assembly elections held in November 2024. He has said that ‘match fixing’ was done in this election, which was already prepared to ensure BJP’s victory. In an article published in the newspaper The Indian Express on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi wrote, the BJP and its coalition partners had planned in five stages to win the election. He said that as the match fixing was done in Maharashtra, the next time it will be in Bihar or can be fixed in any other state.
(1) Rahul Gandhi said that it is not difficult to understand why the BJP was so nervous in Maharashtra. But rigging in the election process is like a match fixing. Even though the cheating team wins, it weakens democratic institutions and the public gets confidence in the electoral process. Every conscious Indian should understand these facts, take decisions and take questions. Mistake in elections is like damaging democracy from within.
(2) Rahul further said that I am not talking about any minor electoral disturbances, but I am talking about such organized and large -scale corruption in which efforts were made to take control of the country’s major institutions.
(3) Rahul Gandhi has questioned the ‘Election Commissioner Appointment Act’ brought by the BJP government in 2023. He said that under this law, a Union Minister was replaced by the Chief Justice of India in the committee appointing the Election Commissioners, which affected the fairness of the electoral process and its complete control went into the hands of the government.
(4) Rahul said that it can be considered the right step to replace the Chief Justice and replace him with a cabinet minister? Think, why would any person want to remove a fair officer and bring his confidant? The answer is found automatically.
