Importance of marital life and worship

In Hinduism, marriage is considered extremely sacred, and in every religious work it is important to have husband and wife together. It is necessary to sit together at the time of worship, but the question often arises as to which side the wife should sit on the husband. According to the scriptures and astrology, there is a special rule on this subject, by following which the fruits of worship are fully obtained.

Wife’s sitting on the right: symbol of auspiciousness

According to religious beliefs, during worship, the wife should always sit on the right of her husband. This condition is considered auspicious and there are many important reasons behind it. The right side is considered a symbol of devotion, karma and duty. When the husband and wife worship God together, it shows that they are performing their religious duties together. The wife’s sitting on the right reflects this devotion and concentration. Special religious rituals such as yajna, havan, kanyadaan, baby nomenclature or Annaprashan are considered appropriate to sit on the right side of the husband, which gives full fruits of these rituals.

According to some beliefs, the right part is the place of power and it is considered auspicious to have power during worship. The wife is considered to be the form of power, so it is important to have her right to the right to the success of worship. Some scholars also add it to Lord Shiva’s Ardhanarishwar form, where male and female meet in the same body. The wife’s sitting on the right side during worship is a symbol of this unity and perfection.

What should husband and wife not do in worship

In Hinduism, it is considered mandatory for husband and wife to sit together in worship. It is believed that the husband should never sit in worship without his wife, because by doing so, the fruit of worship remains incomplete. However, in other worldly works, the wife is practiced to sit on the left side of the husband. In the scriptures, the wife is called ‘Vamangi’, which means the owner of the left limb. There are some special beliefs behind it. According to mythology, women originate from the left limb of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati also sits on the left side of Lord Shiva. The left part is considered a symbol of love, compassion, affection and feelings associated with household life. While eating food, taking blessings, while sleeping and while touching the feet, the wife’s husband’s husband’s left is considered auspicious.
