New Delhi . The Indian Air Force is preparing to increase the strength of the Indian Air Force amid tension from Pakistan. The possibility is being expressed that the proposal to purchase a indigenous (Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile) QR-SAM system can be considered by the Ministry of Defense. However, by when this process will be completed, nothing has been officially said by the government or the army.

The government may consider to give initial approval on the proposal of 30 thousand crores. Through this, three regiments of the system are to be purchased. According to the Times of India report, the Acquisition Council, led by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, can also consider Aon i.e. Access of Nessity.

Why is it special

The QR-SAM system is capable of stopping fighter aircraft, helicopters and drones in a range of 25 to 30 km. The special thing is that India’s Air Defense Network had succeeded in stopping drones and Chinese missiles made in Turkey fired by the enemy during Operation Sindoor.

Here, DRDO and Army have been testing the QR-SAM system for the past few years. In a conversation with the newspaper, an official said, ‘The QR-SAM system can work with search and tracking capacity even while running. They have been designed to run with cannons and thal army fighter vehicles, so that air defense can be installed in the battlefield.

According to the newspaper, AAD i.e. Army Air Defense needs 11 regiments of QR-SAM. The system will join the Defense Network of the Indian Air Force, where the Barak-8 Medium Range SAM system already included in Russia with the S-400 missile system and Israel. While the range of S-400 is 380 km. At the same time, the range of Barak-8 is 70 km.
