Ginny and Georgia fans say the same thing as they hear star speak for first time

Fans of 's hit series have been left gobsmacked by a revelation about one of the show's stars, which is a far cry from her on-screen persona, reports the .

Brianne Howey, who portrays the Southern belle Georgia in the drama, has left viewers flabbergasted after revealing her true accent in a recent interview.

The 36 year old actress, originally from California, sounds strikingly different to her on-screen character, who hails from Birmingham, Alabama and speaks with a pronounced Southern drawl.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she gave fans a sneak peek into the third season, but it was her real accent that truly astonished viewers.

One viewer commented on YouTube: "I keep forgetting she doesn't actually have a southern accent like in the show."

Another remarked: "First time hearing her off the show , she doesnt have a texan accent ... now thats a good actress [sic]."

A third chimed in: "Oh my! I thought she really had that Southern accent in real life. She's really good! !".

"I just can't seem to forget the fact that she's not actually Georgia, like I'm constantly waiting for the southern accent to slip in she's an amazing actor," another fan added.

Another echoed: "Never heard her without the accent. Always amazes me how ppl can turn an accent on and off. Just like the guy from All American."

Yet another person admitted: "this is the first time i heard her without that southern accent and it threw me off so bad [sic]."

In addition to her role in Ginny and Georgia, Howey is recognised for her performances in Fox's The Exorcist, The Passage and the first series of The CW's Batwoman.

Recently, she featured in the Netflix series Kinda Pregnant with Amy Schumer, where she utilised her authentic accent.

Howey isn't the only cast member who has left viewers astonished, Felix Mallard, who portrays Marcus Baker, is actually Australian rather than American, with fans equally taken aback when they hear his genuine accent.

The third series of Ginny and Georgia has been a massive success since its release last week, securing the top spot on Netflix in numerous countries worldwide.

The latest series sees the majority of the main cast returning for another suspense-filled season, with Georgia facing potential imprisonment for the murder of Tom Fuller (Vincent Legault).

However, thanks to her daughter Ginny's (Antonia Gentry) cunning, Georgia manages to avoid jail and resumes her usual havoc in Wellsbury, Massachusetts.

The fourth series of the comedy-drama is already underway after Netflix previously granted Ginny and Georgia a double renewal following the second series.

Howey has hinted that Georgia will be attempting to start afresh after her questionable actions have led her children down a similar path.

Nevertheless, Georgia's past is set to catch up with her after her father Shane Reilly contacted her in the finale of the third series to warn her about her mother and stepfather.

Adding to the drama, Georgia's pregnancy was revealed at the season's conclusion, promising further intrigue.

"Sarah has some incredible things planned, and I can't wait to see more about the circumstances that shaped Georgia," Howey hinted during a chat with Tudum.
