Liverpool allegedly want in excess of £59m for Darwin Nunez during this summer’s transfer window.

Liverpool reportedly want in excess of £59m for Darwin Nunez during this summer’s transfer window, with the Reds preparing to sell the Uruguay international.

The Merseyside giants beat Manchester United to the signature of Nunez in the summer of 2022, with the striker making a lucrative switch to Anfield from Benfica.

However, he has largely struggled to make his mark for the Premier League champions.

Nunez has a record of 40 goals and 26 assists in 143 appearances for Liverpool, while he only managed seven goals and seven assists in 47 outings during the 2024-25 campaign.

The 25-year-old’s future is currently the subject of much speculation, with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal believed to have been in touch to discuss the possibility of a switch.

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are willing to accept a loss on Nunez, having paid £85m to sign him, but the English giants will not sanction a cut-price deal.

The report claims that the Reds want in excess of £59m for the South American, which is believed to have been similar to the amount that Al-Nassr offered during the January market.

Nunez is believed to be willing to make the move to the Saudi Pro League, although there is also thought to be European interest in his services.

Atletico Madrid are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation, with Diego Simeone’s side potentially making an offer for the striker in the coming weeks.

Has Nunez been a failure at Liverpool?

Nunez’s record of 40 goals and 26 assists in 143 appearances for Liverpool is far from dreadful, and he has shown glimpses of his talent during his time with the English giants.

A record of 11 goals in 27 Champions League appearances for Liverpool and Benfica makes him an attractive proposition, while he has managed 25 goals and 16 assists in 95 Premier League appearances.

Wasteful finishing has been the story of his Liverpool career to date, but he has not been a failure at Anfield, and there is every chance that he could go on to thrive at his next club.
