Jim Sarbh's Journey of Learning Telugu

During the recent launch event for the Kuberaa song in Mumbai, actor Jim Sarbh revealed one of the significant hurdles he encountered while working on the film: mastering Telugu from the ground up. Renowned for his intense performances and meticulous approach, Jim emphasized that he dedicated himself not only to memorizing his lines but also to comprehending the meaning behind each word.

He stated, “The main challenge was learning the lines since I don’t speak Telugu. It required considerable time and effort, and I dislike the thought of delivering a sentence without understanding the meaning of each word.”

Jim elaborated on the complexities of the Telugu language, noting its distinct structure and flow compared to English, which added to the challenge and intrigue of the learning process.

He illustrated this by saying, “In English, you might ask, ‘How many are there?’ whereas in Telugu, it could be phrased as, ‘Many are there, how?’ or something similar. Figuring out where to place ‘how’—at the beginning or the end of the sentence—was a task that took time and effort to master.”

Kuberaa, produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd, also sees co-production from Vipul Agarwal and Manish Vasisth. The film is presented by Mugafi in North India and is responsible for its distribution in the region.

Directed by the acclaimed National Award-winning filmmaker Sekhar Kammula, Kuberaa features a star-studded cast including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, and Dalip Tahil. With music composed by Devi Sri Prasad (DSP), the film is set to be released in five languages: Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.

The theatrical release of Kuberaa is scheduled for June 20, 2025.
