The safety pin was not invented in any laboratory but was done to take off a loan. Walter Hunt was a mechanic who was sitting in his New York office that day. He was troubled by a $ 15 loan. Between the crisis of money and lack of time, Hunt picked up a simple wire lying on the table and began to turn it without any special purpose. He already had no plans in his mind, just fingers were going on with restless mind. Folding the wire here and there, Hunt made a design that had a hook at one end and the other end could safely hold the cloth like a loop.

But when Walter Hunt saw this small thing in his hands, he realized that it could be a great way to add clothes. It could be useful without a needle’s prick and damage to clothes, so he named it “Safety Pin” and also achieved it on 10 April 1849. But Hunt did not have much confidence in this invention. In a hurry to repay the loan, he sold his patent rights for just $ 400, out of which he paid $ 15 borrowing and then prepared for the next search.

Safety PIN not only gave an easy way to add clothes but also made its place in diapers, bags and even emergency repairs. Today, it is every sewing kit and an essential part of the house.
