Air India Plane Crash: Government insurance company LIC has made an important announcement after this accident. They have said that the family members of those who lost their lives in this accident will not need to provide death certificates for insurance claims. Instead, any official document issued by the government or Air India or proof of compensation payment will be valid.

Air India Plane Crash: Air India flight AI-171 going from Ahmedabad to London became a victim of an accident. After flying for just a few minutes, the plane fell in Meghani Nagar area. This is considered to be the biggest air accident in the history of India in about a decade.


Government insurance company LIC has made an important announcement after this accident. They have said that the family members of those who lost their lives in this accident will not need to provide death certificate for insurance claim. Instead, any official document issued by the government or Air India or proof of compensation payment will be valid. The purpose of this decision is to save the family from mental and financial burden due to delay in identification of the body or paperwork.

LIC said that its officials will directly contact the families of the policyholders who died in the accident and the insurance amount will be paid as soon as possible. If the family wants, they can contact the nearest LIC branch, division or customer zone. Apart from this, a helpline number – 022 68276827 has also been issued.

How did the accident happen

Destruction in a few minutes, the worst plane accident of a decade. This flight had departed from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick. A few minutes after takeoff, the plane fell in a residential area.

1.25 lakh liters of fuel became the cause of death

Home Minister Amit Shah informed that the 1.25 lakh liters of jet fuel present in the plane and the intense heat of that day made it an 'unsurvivable' accident. Meaning, it was impossible to survive. The AI-171 accident is the first fatal accident of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft till date. This is the same Dreamliner, which was known for better technology and safety.
