New Delhi: Bayern Munich thrashed Auckland City FC by 10-0 in the second match of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. The Bundesliga champions were expected to dominate the match, and they recorded the biggest win in the history of the tournament. Bayern outclassed the New Zealand club, with Jamal Musiala netting a hat-trick and Thomas Muller scoring two goals.
Bayern took the early lead in the match through Kingsley Coman’s sixth-minute header. Sacha Boey scored the second goal 12 minutes later to double Bayern’s advantage, and former Crystal Palace player Michael Olise scored the third goal by tapping in a cross from Thomas Muller at the far post.
Kingsley Coman netted his second goal of the match a minute later to make it 4-0. He drove a left-footed shot into the bottom corner to give a massive advantage to the German club. Müller, who was playing his last tournament for Bayern, guided Olise’s cross past Auckland’s goalkeeper to score the fifth goal. Olise scored the sixth goal with a curling strike into the far corner before halftime.
Bayern’s goal scoring slowed down in the second half of the game. Jamal Musiala, who missed six Bundesliga matches due to a hamstring injury that kept him out for almost six weeks, scored the seventh goal with a curling effort. He then converted a penalty after being fouled in the box. He completed his hat-trick by pouncing on a loose ball deep in the Auckland half.
Bayern’s last goal came in the 88th minute of the match, with Müller scoring through Serge Gnabry’s cross to make it 10-0. The win surpassed the previous biggest victory at the Club World Cup – Al Hilal’s 6-1 win over Al Jazira in 2022.
