RRB Technician Vacancy 2025: Taking a big step, the Ministry of Railways has announced the recruitment of a huge number of technician posts in 18 railway zones and various production units across the country. The ministry has been permitted to fill 6,374 technical posts, which will be filled in a total of 51 categories including signal and telecom department.

In this regard, on June 10, the ministry wrote a letter to all the zones assessed the vacancies shown in the Human Resource Management System, and approved the release of centralized employment notification for 6,374 posts.

The Ministry of Railways has asked all the zones to review the vacancies of these 51 categories and update them in the online system in coordination with the Chairman of the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Bangalore. After this, the nodal RRB will consolidate all the recruitments and issue a notification.

Railway Union welcomed the decision.
The Indian Railway S&T Maintainers Signal and Telecom Union (IRSTMU) has welcomed this decision and called it an important step in terms of the safety of rail operations. Union General Secretary Alok Chandra Prakash wrote a letter to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on June 3, demanding an early start of recruitment for these posts.

He said that the last recruitment in the Signal and Telecom Department was done in 2017 and thousands of posts have been lying vacant for the last eight years. He also opposed the proposal to recruit employees on a contract basis and said that this is increasing the workload on the existing employees.

What is the next process?

Now a centralized notification will be issued by the Railway Recruitment Board by adding the vacancies of all the zones. After this, interested candidates will be able to apply by visiting the official websites of RRB.
