This time Maharashtra In the Hindi language And the Marathi language issue is quite hot. This dispute is going on in schools to teach Hindi to children. The Government of Maharashtra has applied a new rule on Hindi language up to class 1-5 in government schools. It is no longer compulsory to teach Hindi as a third language. For this, a condition has been placed in front of schools. The Maharashtra government has recently issued a new order regarding this. However, many people who favor Marathi language have started to surround the government with this.
In fact, on Wednesday i.e. June 18, 2025, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that in the new order, the “imperative” of learning Hindi for students in the state has been removed and now any Indian language can be chosen as the third language. The Maharashtra government has made it clear in its order that 3 language formulas will be in the state schools. It will continue to study in Marathi and English medium as before. Apart from this, schools will also have to select a third language.
The order said, “Those who want to learn another language as an alternative to Hindi, they have to meet 20 students from each class in school.”
In such a situation, a teacher will be made available for that particular language or the language will be taught online. ”The government order said that Marathi will be compulsory language in all schools.
Fadnavis said, “Naturally, many people choose English as one of the three languages.” The Chief Minister said, “Indian languages are better than English. I understand that English is the language of communication, but due to NEP, Marathi has become the language of knowledge. We have started teaching engineering in Marathi, which was not done earlier. “He said,” Our doctors are now getting education in Marathi. MBA is also being taught in Marathi. Marathi is becoming a global language, knowledge and economics language due to NEP and the Maharashtra government has taken this step. I believe that such disputes about languages are unnecessary. ”
Let me tell you, according to the new instructions released on June 18, Hindi is the third language in Marathi and English medium schools from classes 1 to 5, but this is not mandatory. If more than 20 students choose another Indian language in a class, the school will have to provide teachers for that language. If less than 20 students choose, the language will be taught online. Marathi remains mandatory in all schools, which is an important part of the government’s policy
The political dispute in the state has been heated over the third language policy.
