The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy to very heavy rain in 31 districts, including:
Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Kanpur Dehat, Ambedkar Nagar, Agra, Mainpuri and others.
There will be rain with thunder and lightning in 21 districts including Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar and Unnao.
Rain started in many areas
Rain activity increased in many parts of UP including Lucknow from Thursday afternoon, where light to moderate rain was reported. IMD expects the monsoon to officially reach Lucknow within the next 24 hours.
Clouds are over northeastern Jharkhand and West Bengal, which is expected to move northwest in the next 24 hours.

Central/North-Eastern Uttar Pradesh: Gorakhpur, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur, Sitapur
Other parts: Kanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Bareilly, Hamirpur, Mahoba

Despite the rain, the day temperature remained around 37.2 degrees Celsius, while the night temperature dropped to 28 degrees Celsius, bringing partial relief.
