NMCG organized ‘Yoga on Ghat’ on Yamuna coast on the occasion of International Yoga Day

New Delhi, New Delhi: On the occasion of 11th International Yoga Day, the National Clean Ganga Mission (NMCG) organized a lively ‘Ghat’ program at the BSF Kayaking Camp in Sonia Vihar, New Delhi, on the banks of river Yamuna.

Celebrated under the global theme of “Ek Earth, a health for a health”, the program was brought together for yoga, enthusiastic and environmental supporters, and the morning fresh morning was dedicated to the message of meditation, physical activity and harmony between humanity and nature. NMCG Director General Rajiv Kumar Mittal said that practicing yoga on the cool coast of Yamuna gives unique uplift and transformative experience.

Yoga instructor Meenakshi said, “Yoga has great importance in life. If we create a little awareness towards our health, then we already get involved with yoga.”

The program also witnessed enthusiastic participation of students, who welcomed the opportunity to practice yoga and join nature in a peaceful atmosphere on the banks of the river. A student named Roshan said, “Today we practiced yoga here and it really liked it. We know that our ancient civilizations were built on the banks of rivers and we have started doing yoga on the ghats, inspired by it. This is the fourth year when we are practicing yoga in BSF camp.”

NGOs partnered with NMCG also played an important role in including participants through awareness activities.

Mohit Krishna, a partner of Namami Gange’s partner NGO, said, “We connected people to Yamuna cleanliness campaign and yoga. Yoga brings a feeling of concentration, inspiration and positivity.”

Practicing yoga on the banks of river Yamuna provides a peaceful environment that inspires the mind and health. Cool river and natural surroundings create the perfect environment to connect the body, mind and soul.
