The Intercontinental Championship match initially scheduled for Night of Champions 2025 has been removed from the WWE premium live event lineup, as revealed during this week's episode of Monday Night Raw. A new match has been introduced to take its place, and the finals for the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments are also confirmed for the event in Saudi Arabia.
In a segment backstage on the June 23 episode of Raw, General Manager Adam Pearce informed AJ Styles that his bout against Dominik Mysterio would not take place at Night of Champions 2025 due to Mysterio not being medically cleared. Pearce assured Styles that he would receive his title opportunity once Mysterio is fit to compete.
It remains uncertain whether Mysterio is genuinely injured as he appeared in multiple segments on Raw. During an interview aired during commercial breaks, he mentioned that his ribs were not fully healed. His last match was on June 9, where he participated in a fatal-4-way King of the Ring match, which Sami Zayn won.
Zayn subsequently lost in the semifinals to Randy Orton. While discussing his defeat on Raw, Karrion Kross taunted him for never winning a World Championship. Zayn retaliated by laying out Kross and confirmed a match between them for Night of Champions 2025.
The finals for both the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will also take place at Night of Champions 2025. Cody Rhodes triumphed over Jey Uso to secure his spot in the King of the Ring final, where he will face Randy Orton. Meanwhile, Jade Cargill defeated Roxanne Perez to advance to the Queen of the Ring final against Asuka.
The Night of Champions 2025 WWE premium live event is set to occur at The Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, June 28. This event marks the only premium live event from the Middle East this year. The confirmed match card currently includes:
