A suspect, arrested in connection with a murder case, reportedly fired at police while attempting to escape custody on Wednesday, resulting in his injury during a police response. Authorities provided this information.

The incident occurred in the afternoon as the suspect was being transported to the Sultanaganj police station. Prior to this, a joint team from the Special Task Force (STF) and Patna police had apprehended him.

An official statement revealed, 'The suspect had concealed a firearm in his clothing. He suddenly attempted to flee and opened fire on the officers escorting him. Security personnel returned fire. After a brief struggle, he was subdued and sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. A police officer was also injured in the incident.'

Both the injured police officer and the apprehended suspect have been admitted to a nearby government hospital, where their conditions are reported to be stable.
