Kolkata: A shocking case of gangrape has come to light from a law college in South Kolkata. The city police have arrested 3 people in the matter. The survivor is a woman student of the law college, police said.
The Kasba Police have arrested the 3 boys involved in the alleged gangrape. Those arrested include a former student and a current student of the college where the girl was also a student.
According to the FIR registered by the police, the alleged gangrape took place on June 25. The girl in her complaint said that she was raped between 7:30 pm to 10:50 pm, on that day. The complaint was regarding penetrative sexual assault.
The medical examination of the woman student was done at the CNMC hospital in Kolkata, police said. The police have recorded the statement of the witnesses. The forensic teams are examining the place where the alleged rape took place. Their report is awaited.
The police have arrested two of the accused from Siddhartha Shankar Sishu Roy Udyan near Talbagan Crossing, Kolkata. Their mobile phones have been seized and police are interrogating both of them. The third accused was arrested from his residence on June 27. His mobile was also seized.
All the 3 accused will be presented in court in Alipore on Friday. The police will pray for their remand and seek custody to properly investigate the matter.
