Preparation to increase the scope of payment from Fastag… will also be able to pay on parking-petrol pump

New Delhi. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is considering the expanding of Fastag (Fastag). The ministry plans to use it for charging electric vehicles, also for petrol pumps, parking and insurance payment. This will increase the use of fastags and will facilitate people.

It is being told that the Ministry is working on ways to implement this scheme. In this regard, the Indian Highways Management Company (IHMCL), who recently working under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), held a meeting with Fintech companies. In this, the new use of the fastag system was discussed in detail. After the meeting, the ministry said that they want to know how the fastag can be broadcast further. How to take care of safety in this and how to remove complaints. Suggestions were also taken from the major Fintech companies in the meeting.

Government’s purpose
According to the ministry, through this initiative, the government aims to prepare a digital network through fastag, where vehicle owners can get all the facilities to travel and transport on the same platform in cashless, fast and safe manner. These services include new technology toll payment, parking-charging fee and petrol pump and insurance payment.

Emphasis on toll payment without stopping
Along with this, the ministry wants to promote multi-lane uninterrupted toll payment. This is a technique in which there is no need to stop the car at the toll booth. Fastag and the car number read the camera itself and the toll automatically cuts down. Central Road Secretary V. Umashankar says that the government aims to completely cashless the toll collection. This will not only be convenient, but will save the time of the people and will be fraud-free and error. Fintech companies will bring new technology to it and the government will help in implementing it.

People will get more facilities
In this regard, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that there is a huge possibility in the fastag not only for toll, but to make the journey easier in the whole country. He said that the ministry, along with Fintech companies and other people, wants to make Fastag a strong platform, which gives people the best facilities, improve transport services.

11 million fastags released
Currently, fastens are being used on 1,728 toll plazas across the country and 98.5% of the total toll payment is being done. So far, more than 11 crore fastag cards have been issued. Fastags are issued by more than 38 banks in the country.
