Summary: Kannappa cannot connect emotional at all

‘Kannappa’ is a grand but emotionally weak film, which deviates from its true story. There are visuals and star cameos, but the lack of script and emotion is clearly visible.

‘Kannappa’ has big stars, beautiful locations and powerful visuals, but the film leaves its true story and emotional connection.

Kannappa Movie Review: ‘Kannappa’ has a true and emotional story, especially for the Hindi audience. If it was transported properly to today’s generation, it would have been really amazing. But this offer remains entangled in grandeur and big names. You forget the real story. Some scenes and cameos are good, visuals are also beautiful but the soul of the film is missing. Everyone here is so artificial that many times it seems as if you are sitting in a school drama. The funny is that director Mukesh Kumar Singh tries to present it so seriously that laughter starts. For 182 minutes, only the legs keep banging to come in your rhythm.

Actually, ‘Kannappa’ has the story of a famous devotee of Hindu myth who removed both his eyes for Lord Shiva. Prior to the devotee, he was a hunter named ‘Thinadu’, who did not believe in any God and made fun of idol worship. After a divine experience, his life changes and he becomes a Shiva devotee. The story has been shown in the best manner in 1954 in the ‘fleet Kannappa’ and ‘Bhakta Kannappa’ made in 1976. But in this new film, both the story and culture were lost.

The large part of the film is shot in New Zealand, obviously you cannot show the feelings of Indian culture there. Mountains, waterfalls, forests are beautiful but cannot connect to the story. The film has a presence of big stars like Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, which for a short time. Prabhas is in the form of Rudra. Akshay and Kajal Aggarwal have become Shiva-Parvati, but they do not have a habit of seeing them, so the effect of the story ends.

Sometimes something good looks good. Thinnadu and his father (Sarath Kumar) relationship, his yearning for his mother and his relationship with Nemali (Preity Mukundhan) is all amazing. Nemali is a warrior princess, but the film only makes her show-pieces after some scenes of glamorous songs and fencing. The film makers are forgetting that after ‘Bahubali’, viewers are not just happy with grandeur. Rajamouli’s films have scripts and emotional connections, which is not here. The action scenes of the film are flashy and scattered. VFX only distracts attention, not thrilling.

Vishnu Manchu has worked hard but he gets badly weakened in emotional climax. Senior actors like Madho, Brahmanandam, Saptagiri, Mukesh Rishi also get lost in the crowd. The film’s climax and good would be good. It touches emotions, but the deficiency still remains. You can watch the film only when you have to see a grand scene and star cameo. If you are looking for a heart -connected offer, ‘Kannappa’ will disappoint you.
