Hyderabad: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh BJP will choose its new president on July 1, tv9 telugu reported. Notification for the election will be released on Sunday and nominations will be accepted on Monday.

Speaking to TV9 telugu, BJP MP Laxman said, “It’s a three-day process. The announcement of the new BJP president will be made on July 1. Along with AP, the selection of Telangana president will also be announced. We will complete the selection of presidents of ten states in the first week of July.”

According to reports, Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender and Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Aravind are vying for the top post in Telangana. Both of them have been lobbying the BJP high command in New Delhi and have been reaching out to senior leaders.

The party is allegedly interested in appointing a candidate from the BC community, which has added to the hopes of both Rajender and Aravind.

This comes ahead of local body polls and is seen as a move aimed at sending a political message and rallying grassroots workers. Mahabubnagar MP DK Aruna is also allegedly under consideration as a woman leader and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay is also a part of the discussion, reports said.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy is the current president of Telangana BJP.
