Katie Couric has slammed Lauren Sanchez, Jeff Bezos' new wife, on her lavish wedding day. The billionaire duo celebrated their union this week with a no-expense-spared bash. Journalist Katie deemed Lauren "tacky" and she weighed in on a post by Jack Schlossberg, known for being John F. Kennedy Jr. 's nephew and Caroline Kennedy's son.
Schlossberg seemed to mock Bezos and Sanchez's Venetian wedding festivities earlier this week. He shared Vogue's cover image on Friday, featuring Lauren in her exquisite white lace bridal gown. His caption read: "Like I said ... vogue."In the photo, Lauren dazzles, beaming broadly in her dress adorned with long sleeves and a silhouette that accentuates her figure.
The dress showcased intricate floral lace detailing around her hips, elegantly flaring out from the knee down. Couric didn't hold back, leaving a scathing comment where she labelled the bride "tacky".
"Welcome to the eighties - when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled. Apparently, tacky is back," Couric commented.
Jeff, the world's second-richest man, wed his long-time love Lauren in Venice, Italy yesterday. The couple are now officially husband and wife after exchanging vows in a grand £48million ceremony attended by a host of celebrities and family members - this follows a more intimate legal ceremony they previously held.
The couple exchanged their vows in a heartfelt 25-minute ceremony, surrounded by family and friends who erupted into cheers, applause, and whistles as they proclaimed "I do".
Among the glittering guest list were celebrities like the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, with Ivanka Trump and Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan also gracing the event.
Despite the recent buzz around their Venetian wedding celebrations, it has emerged that the couple actually wed weeks earlier.
An event insider disclosed: "They have been married for at least a month, more than a month. The marriage is fully legal and took place in America under American law."
While this week's events are being celebrated as their wedding, the source indicated that it was merely a formality. "When they were planning the wedding, they were clear about the fact that they were already secretly married," the insider revealed.
Reports suggest that Bezos himself acknowledged the official union, mentioning that a prenuptial agreement was arranged to protect his immense $244 billion fortune. It's understood that Bezos and Sanchez had a private marriage in the U.S., preceding the public festivities.
