Passport Seva 2.0: Now the way of making passports has become easier and smarter than before. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has recently launched the Passport Seva Program 2.0, in which the facility of e-passport is being implemented across the country. It was announced on the occasion of 13th Passport Seva Day.
The start of e-passport has been described by the Foreign Minister as a major achievement and said that this will make the passport process fast and secure. Now the question arises that what is e-Passport, who can make it, and what is the process? Let us explain everything in easy language.

What is an e-passport? (Passport Seva 2.0)
E-Passport is a smart passport with a small contactless chip. In this chip, biometric information, photos and necessary details are saved in the passport holder. With this help, immigration process at the airport is done very quickly and safely.
Also, now police verification is also happening fast. With the help of mpassport police app, this process is now being completed in just 5 to 7 days.

Where has this facility started? (Passport Seva 2.0)
At present, the facility of e-passport has been started in some cities of the country such as: Nagpur, Bhubaneswar, Jammu, Shimla, Raipur, Amritsar, Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Surat, Ranchi will soon be available in the entire country.
Who can make e-passport? (Passport Seva 2.0)
Every Indian citizen who is eligible to get passports can apply for e-passport. This facility is now gradually being implemented in all cities and in future e-passports will become standard documents.

- Bank passbook
- Electricity/water/gas bill
- Birth certificate
- Voter ID
- Driving license

How to apply? (Step-by-step process)
- Go to Passport Seva Portal and register yourself.
- After login, click on “Apply for Fresh Passport / Re-Risue”.
- Fill the form and submit the information carefully.
- Go to “View Submitted Applications” and submit the fees and schedule the appointment.
- You can enroll biometric enrollment by visiting Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Center (POPSK).
- Keep the appointment receipt and details found in SMS.
- Reach PSK or RPO with your original documents on the date of appointment.
- If the facility is available in your area, then you can also call the mobile passport van at home for verification.
The process of making e-passport starts completely online, but for verification you will have to show physical documents. So keep all your documents ready in advance.
