Before marrying Chau, she worked in the insurance industry. Together, the couple has two daughters.
Chau, 51, is the founder and former CEO of Suncity, once the largest casino junket operator in Macau, according to AP. In Nov. 2021, Macau police arrested Chau and several others on charges to illegal gambling operations and money laundering. The case was later handed over to prosecutors, as reported by the Global Times.
In Jan. 2023, a Macau court convicted Chau of fraud, leading a criminal organization, and managing illegal gambling activities. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison and is currently incarcerated at Coloane Prison in Macau.
Chau is also known for his extramarital affair with Malaysian-American model-actress Mandy Lieu, 39, with whom he has four children. After their separation in 2019, Lieu relocated to the U.K. with their children. It was reported by The Straits Times that Chau paid Lieu HK$300 million (US$38.4 million) as a “break-up fee” following their split.
