Preparation for the month of Sawan and fast

The holy month of Sawan starts from 11 July, and its first Somwar will be celebrated on 14 July. This fast holds special significance for all devotees, because its purpose is to please Lord Shiva. During this time it is also very important to take care of your health. If you do not follow the right diet, you may fall ill. In particular, you should take care of your diet even during the Kavar Yatra. Let us know what you should eat during this time and what not.

  • Poor or stanrat made of rock salt.

  • Do not eat garlic and onion because they are considered tamasic food and it is forbidden to eat during fast.
  • Use rock salt instead of normal salt.
  • Avoid meat, fish, eggs as well.
  • The purity of fasting is disturbed by alcohol, cigarette, tobacco.
  • Fried-root, spicy food can make the body heavy and lazy.
