A chilling and mysterious tragedy unfolded in Bettiah, Bihar, on Thursday night when an intermediate student, Nandini Verma, was found hanging in her room moments after her father received a disturbing phone call from an unknown number. The caller simply said, “Nandini is going to commit suicide, please save her,” before abruptly disconnecting. Despite the family’s desperate attempt to rescue her, it was too late.

Promising Student Found Dead

Nandini, daughter of Sanjay Kumar Verma, was a bright student and had recently started attending a coaching institute in the city for the past six days. The incident occurred at their residence in Balkrishna Colony, New Bus Stand area (Ward 25). Her sudden death has shocked the locality and left the family devastated.

Panic After Mysterious Call

According to the family, everything appeared normal until late Thursday night. After dinner, everyone went to their respective rooms. Nandini too had gone to sleep. At midnight, her father received a call from an unknown number. The person on the other end urgently warned that Nandini was about to commit suicide. The call ended before any further clarification could be sought.

Alarmed, the family rushed to Nandini’s room. The door was locked from inside, and she wasn’t responding to their calls. They broke the door open only to find her hanging from the ceiling fan. She was immediately taken down and rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital, but the doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Police Launch Investigation

The police were informed and they arrived at the hospital around 1:55 am. The body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem. Authorities are now investigating the mysterious phone call, especially how the caller knew Nandini’s actions in real time. The number has since been found switched off.

Police have not yet confirmed a motive behind the suicide. There was no suicide note found in the room. The family is in deep shock and unable to comprehend the loss or the source of the anonymous warning.
