New Delhi: Parts of Delhi received very light rain on Saturday, but the heat and high humidity made the weather outside uncomfortable. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Sunday, July 6, 2025, predicting light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning. This rain will bring relief to Delhiites from the heat. The maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 37.1 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal.

The humidity level ranged between 57% and 89%, causing the ‘heat index’ or ‘feel like’ temperature to reach 54 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was 27.9 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this season. According to the IMD, Delhi’s base station Safdarjung recorded 1.8 mm of rain between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm on Saturday.

Palam received 2.6 mm of rain, Mayur Vihar 0.5 mm, Rajghat 0.1 mm, and Lodhi Road received negligible rainfall.

An IMD official said, “Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in Delhi for the next three days. The intensity of the rain may increase on Sunday.” The maximum temperature is expected to drop to 33-35 degrees Celsius on Sunday and 32-34 degrees Celsius on Monday.

Delhi has received only 4.1 mm of rain so far in July, while the normal average for the entire month is 209.7 mm. Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category for the 10th consecutive day, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 89. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, the AQI will remain in the satisfactory category for the next few days.
