In a shocking and bizarre incident, a couple allegedly risked their seven-year-old daughter’s life in a dangerous situation in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur for the sake of social media fame. A video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media platforms, has drawn the ire of the netizens.
As reported by the Bhaskar, the incident took place at Bharatpur’s Baretha dam.
According to the viral video, the young girl was made to sit on a gauge box, placed beyond the safety railing of the dam, using an angle iron as support. The girl was seen sitting unsteadily on the narrow railing as her parents were encouraging her. After positioning, her father left her hands.
Shockingly, the girl’s mother was also present and encouraged the child.
The girl, visibly nervous, complied with her parents’ request as they lowered her onto the other side of the dam.
The video of the act was shared on Sunday from an Instagram account named Umashankar.
This act of parental negligence has left viewers furious, with many calling out the couple’s irresponsible behaviour.
Baraith Police Station In-charge Bharat Lal told the news outlet that the video has come to notice. However, the couple has not yet been identified.
“Efforts are being made to identify them. For security purposes, a constable has been deployed at the spot," he said.
Baretha Dam, currently a hotspot for tourists and social media influencers, has seen a surge in risky behaviour as visitors attempt to film attention-grabbing reels. However, stunts like these not only jeopardise individual lives but also put rescue personnel at risk during emergencies.
